Current Events

Formation Lap Period

The starting lap has started.

Track Information

There are nineteen laps of the longest circuit in Formula One, the commentator informs us.

Countdown

The countdown is on.

Driver Situation

An advantage in Max Verstappen's favour: his fellow driver Tsunoda is in front of him by one place. It's improbable to challenge Red Bull's lead driver.

Media Conversations

Sky speaking with Sky now: the analyst is with Mercedes.

Karun Chandhok is jumping ahead to the 2026 season, speaking with the engineer about his stepping up to Aston Martin lead role.

Grid Details

Just 16 cars on the grid. This followed another bad qualifying for the driver: following his result of 20th and last in the previous race, resulting in an eighth-place finish in the grand prix, he did not manage to advance of the first qualifying segment once more on Friday. The team have consequently made changes to his setup and so he begins from the starting area.

The team's Stroll and the Alpine duo of Gasly and Franco Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Racer Statements

"We take the experience for tomorrow," says Hadjar, starting eleventh. There will be a lot of that.

Constructors' Championship

It's not all about the drivers' title: McLaren have run away with the constructors' gong but the team, with a 40-point lead over their rivals, will be hoping to seal second place during this event. George Russell can help them achieve that from the front row, and Kimi Antonelli will begin immediately after Verstappen.

Past Performance

Oscar Piastri was victorious then – as he did the previous season, as well. McLaren's Australian is attempting a third consecutive win.

Short Race Importance

Alright, just over twenty minutes remaining until the sprint race gets under way. Unless something goes wrong, its main importance is as an indication of what is to come, instead of highly important in its itself, with only eight points awarded to the winner. However, second place here was enough for Verstappen to claim the title in a prior season.

Max Verstappen wins F1 world title following his teammate's accident of Qatar GP sprint race.
